Lucasfilm brought the galaxy far, far away to the Big Game with a special Super Bowl spot for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Now, it doesn’t look like that at first. The spot opens with a serene, high-angle shot looking down over a snowy mountain plain—quiet, picturesque, almost like it’s setting up one of those classic, heart-tugging Super Bowl “Americana” ads. All the snow being kicked up plus the carriage being pulled signaled this was a Budweiser Clydesdale ad. But a closer look the reins levitating towards a tiny green hand reveals this was meant to be a Super Bowl spot for “The Mandalorian and Grogu.”
It’s a very Star Wars kind of joke where it is sincere, a little cheeky, and weirdly wholesome, as if the franchise is reminding everyone it can still do mythic scale and cozy vibes in the same breath.
The film is set after the fall of the Empire, with scattered Imperial warlords still threatening the galaxy as the fledgling New Republic tries to hold the line. To help protect what the Rebellion fought for, the New Republic enlists legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu for what’s being billed as their most thrilling mission yet.
Directed by Jon Favreau, The Mandalorian and Grogu also stars Sigourney Weaver and Jeremy Allen White, with Favreau producing alongside Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Ian Bryce. The score is composed by Ludwig Göransson.
The Mandalorian and Grogu is scheduled to open in theaters on May 22, 2026.
