My preschoolers already love playing games on my iPhone so I think the folks at Pull-Ups are onto something with their new iPhone potty training application. iGo Potty is a free app now available at the iTunes Apps Store.
According to the developers, to start potty training toward success, parents can simply download the app and customize it to fit their lifestyles and potty training journeys by adjusting the frequency of potty reminders throughout the day. The option to set a photo or avatar makes every child feel iGo Potty is their special potty training tool.
Once iGo Potty is set to keep potty trainers on track, parents and children receive special calls from “Patty the Potty” throughout the day, letting the child know it’s time to try to go by encouraging the child to answer the call.
iGo Potty also offers a variety of digital rewards, like stickers and games, to keep potty training fun and motivating. The app helps parents and toddlers stay motivated by unlocking access to new rewards and games after a set number of successes are achieved. iGo Potty also encourages parents to pass along important updates and celebrations with custom reports tracking potty successes.
When parents feel their child has achieved potty training success, an app-generated graduation celebration can be selected that includes graduation theme music, balloons and streamers. Parents can then print out a diploma suitable for sharing and hanging on the refrigerator to commemorate the achievement.
Our thoughts: My kids thought the phone reminder was like a special phone call just for them. Very exciting and effective! And being a busy mom of two, I appreciated the timed reminder as well. We are early in the potty training process so I can’t report on the effectiveness yet. The ability to customize the frequency of reminders and photos is simple to set and change based on your child’s needs. The online game rewards are fun, but I do think my kids need real stickers and incentives, like M&Ms, in addition to the digital.

We used lollipops! I had a jar in the bathroom and they got to pick one if they went in potty. They almost never ate one and in a few days lost interest in the pops all together but thought the potty was pretty cool!

Sticker chart!
I follow Thats it mommy on twitter @babybellabows
i pretty much stayed home for three whole days, I would ask and remind my daughter constantly if she needed to go! I got a sticker chart and she got to add a sticker each time which she loved to do! I also let her pick out a candy everytime she went! Just something to keep her motivated. I was very excited and showed her how much I was when she would go!

I didn’t have a method. When they were old enough that they were interested in going on the potty, then I started them. I didn’t want to make it a big stressful thing. One was fully trained at 30 months, one at 25 months and the other at 32 months. Yes, I am shocked about the 25 months to this day, since he is my disabled child, but he didn’t like diapers and he was determined to go potty.

I always changed her diapers when she was wet, even if it was just a little bit. She would get upset if I didn’t! I think that’s why she potty-trained so young…she just never liked to be wet!

My nephew steadfastly refused to be potty trained. That is, until his baby sister was born, when he was 3 and a half. All of a sudden, he decided that he didn’t want to be associated with “baby” things, like diapers, bottles, and the like. Within a month he was potty trained. It worked like a charm, lol.

autumn398 @ yahoo.com
I found that not having anything around the potty helped. The child stayed focused that way!
Bribery always worked for me … whether it be a small piece of candy or toy!
The method that I found most effective is the reward method. For my older kids, I kept on hand a small basket of toy from our local dollar store. This worked wonderful for my older kids. I also praised them and we would call the Grandparents and make a fuss too.
Thanks so much for this great giveaway.

I found when we stopped pressuring, it seemed to help him relax and use the potty.
My one son was especially difficult to train. The thing that finally worked for him was for me to keep him home for a week and let him run around nude. I found that if he had underpants on he would just go to the bathroom in them but nude, he would head straight to the potty.
When I was training my sons, I found using Cheerios in the potty as targets got them motivated.

We had great success with the sticker chart/reward method. We didn’t pressure our daughter and she decided she wanted to earn stickers.
Reading the Potty Book and making sure not to pressure them. Also a small reward stickers etc helps
Having them potty train their baby doll! tracietrump@yahoo.com
TIP: Being a mom, a grandma, and take care of a heck of a lot of little ones, the best tip I have is take your time. Be consistent with the potty schedule.
geneveve2@gmail.com
Put cherrios in the toilet to aim at!
I found it usefull to have a two potties, one for each twin and then priase them when they go potty and I leave the potties out where they have access to use them as needed.
I found NO PRESSURE and the reward chart the best and most effective.
Thanks for the chance.

Only two of my three are potty trained, but I found the hippie approach worked best for me. I let them decide when they wanted to stop wearing the diapers, and that was age 4 for my oldest and age 3 1/2 for my middle child.

We’ve found that consistency is the biggest tip we can give. Forming consistent habits, and consistent things (room, time of day) that the child can focus on!

My approach was a combo of waiting until my daughter was a bit older/more ready and offering motivation (she wanted to wear big girl panties and go to pre school with friends)
I rewarded my children w/M&Ms each time they went on the potty and i also gave them lots of praise
I gave an M and M for each successful trip to the potty.

Singing a song that requires clapping while my cute kidlet is on the potty! When it’s successful, she gets a little ‘reward’!
When we were training our oldest, nothing was working. Then I put “pretty” panties on her. Potty trained in a week. She didn’t want to get them dirty or mess them up.
Stickers worked very well for my oldest child. Every time she would use the potty, she would get a sticker.
For my son, just putting regular underpants on him with his favorite character on them (spiderman) worked very well.
For my youngest child which we are currently working on, she has a potty that plays music every time she goes and she just loves that. It makes her want to go. At night time though, they still wear pull ups to bed because they don’t seem to wake up to go when they need to.
My son is 2 and I’m thinking of starting soon and looking for ideas! I’ve heard lots of good things about cheerios as targets.
I also follow on FB.
Positive praise and consistency works really well in our house. Our girls were potty trained rather quickly, and now we’re helping our 21 month old son:)
Let them sit there with a book until they go.
Our tip was to give a rewards. She loves stickers so when she “went in the potty” she got a few stickers.
My best tip that worked with my kids an grandkids,is to take them to the BR as soon as they wake up,an then again after every meal an in between times,we have a “potty dance”we do if they go

When potty training my little boy, I would put a couple of Froot Loops in the bowl and tell him to “shoot” at them when going #1. He LOVED it and going #1 was mastered in no time!

Kids are just like puppies. Put them on the potty (or take them outside – in the case of puppies) as soon as waking and right after meals and snacks. Stay with them so they don’t see it as a punishment, and read storybooks.

I used the method of putting “targets” in the toilet for him to hit. Something cheerios. Crude, I suppose, but works really well for boys for sure!

Any incentive worked for my lil’s usually a collection of tallies or stickers that would lead to a bigger prize!
We used a method of bribery and begging. When used together, they worked wonderfully for us.

We’re still potty training and don’t have one thing that seems to work the best. We have the driest days when we are out and about. I think the novelty of different bathrooms is the key. At home, we do the sticker chart system.

we give stickers as rewards!
I’ve used the reward method where you get one m&m for each successful try, and that worked for us.
I used a reward chart for my son, the reward was stickers every time he went pee or poop in the toilet. After he earned so many stickers he could special activity with mom or dad.

The best thing I can say is to just stick with it…don’t give up until it sticks!
Our gamer required a complex set of rules and prizes to stay motivated. 5 stickers was a toy car, 30 stickers was a bigger prize, and 150 was a trip to Toys R Us (budget = cost of a box of diapers)
We used stickers and m&m’s for rewards when they went. Thanks!

I don’t have kids, but my mom had a really hard time potty training me. She even took me to a shrink! LOL I had separation anxiety with my poo…TMI I know…anyway..the doc had her to literally strap me to the toilet until I used it each day. Eventually I was a-ok with it all. My mom even has a picture of me sitting on my toilet watching the Flintstones on TV…I would walk around holding the toilet to my bottom and then sit and watch TV…nuts eh? LOL

You have to find what works for your child. I tried everything. Then I realized mine was ultra-competitive. I stayed home one Friday and told her “I bet I can stay dry longer than you” and that child never had an accident again! Well, except for nights, we’re still working on that but she just turned 3 so I figure we have a little time…

The most effective thing that helped with potty training was just not giving up! 🙂
We found the most effective way in potty training is rewarding him with something when he went in the Potty instead of going in his pull up!
I found that having my daughter sit on the potty for a while helps because she eventually goes. I also have her run around with out diapers so she is ready to go if she needs to.

She had to sit on the potty for 5 minutes or until she went – whichever came first – once an hour, and then she got a piece of candy. Otherwise, she would probably be wearing Depends now because she’s too big for diapers.

my son was tricky to potty train–but the only thing that helped us was fruit loops–he loved them and when ever he had to go–he knew to go in the potty so he would get them 🙂

I give my son a Skittle or Lemonhead every time he pees and a pack of fruit snacks for pooping. It seems to be working.

My oldest was 4 years old and still in diapers. I was starting to stress about it and the best advice I ever got was to let each child make the transition on their own time. This friend pointed out that I did not have a single 10th grader in my teaching career that was still in diapers! It sounded so funny, but I knew it was the truth. Not 2 months later, my 4 year potty trained himself out of diapers.

My most effective tip for potty training is to take them every hour or two at the most to see if they need to go, at least at first. A lot of times they don’t want to stop what they are doing to go potty so you have to remind them.

Most effective for me has been just putting them straight into cloth training pants. They hate getting wet, and learn quickly.
i use cloth diapers and i think that they make potty training easier

Thanks for the giveaway…we tried to be very calm & consistent, like it was no big deal, and our daughters took to it almost immediately.

I take them potty when I’m going and let them play with a special book or toy.
We made a potty song. It helped my son so much.

I’d sit on the floor next to my son and read him a board book. It kept him from wanting to get right on and off, and from there the rest was easy.
