From writer and director John Krasinski, IF is about a girl who discovers that she can see everyone’s imaginary friends — and what she does with that superpower — as she embarks on a magical adventure to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids.
IF stars Ryan Reynolds, John Krasinski, Cailey Fleming, Fiona Shaw, and the voices of Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr. and Steve Carell alongside many more as the wonderfully unique characters that reflect the incredible power of a child’s imagination.
IF reunites director John Krasinski with his “The Office” co-star Steve Carrell for the first time since the show ended its run in 2013. As one could imagine, the reunion would be quite emotional. Given Krasinski’s previous directorial efforts, which had a darker tone and feel to them, it’s nice to see the filmmaker can flex his creative muscles outside “The Quiet Place” universe. It’s got a strong family-friendly vibe to it that is imaginative and fun, but also poignant and heartfelt as it tackles themes about childhood lost during the inevitability of growing up.
As if the Krasinski and Carrell reunion wasn’t already exciting enough, the “IF” features a stacked comedic voice cast, some of whom are actually Krasinski’s friends. The voice talents include Emily Blunt as Unicorn; Maya Rudolph as Ally, an alligator; Matt Damon as Sunny, a flower; Jon Stewart as Robot; Sam Rockwell as Superhero Dog; Sebastian Maniscalco as Magician Mouse; Christopher Meloni as Cosmo; Richard Jenkins as Art Teacher, an animation figure; Awkwafina as Bubble; John Krasinski as Marshmallow; Blake Lively as Octocat; George Clooney as Spaceman, an astronaut; Matthew Rhys as Ghost; Bradley Cooper as Ice, a glass of ice water; Amy Schumer as Gummy Bear; and Keegan-Michael Key as Slime, a green blob.
Paramount Pictures has scheduled “IF” for a May 17, 2024 release.
