It’s time to face the music. Everyone’s very band of merry a-holes returns for one final time in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” While Marvel Studios’ space opera was an action-packed story filled with plenty of needle drops and deep cuts, their story will come to an epic conclusion. And there is no doubt that fans will be shedding a few tears as they won’t be prepared to say good-bye.
Director James Gunn promises that “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will be a very emotional finale that will bring an end to this particular group of heroes that were first introduced to us in 2014. Gunn’s films though vital to the MCU story, played to a different tune with its rocking beats and smooth soul music. Of course a lot as changed for the team dynamics as Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) met Gamora (Zoe Saldana), fell in love, learned that her father killed her, and found out that she came back “a total dick.” Of course, Nebula (Karen Gillian) points out that he may have left out some important information, but that was the total gist of it.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” will be the first time that we’ve seen the title team, together, without any meddling Avengers, since “Vol. 2.” As the trailer reveals, we will see more of Rocket’s (voice of Bradley Cooper) history as a raccoon before he was transformed into the trigger-happy gunslinger by the High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji), an evil scientist who wants to change the galaxy in his image. Sounds pretty scary. Especially when you add a villain like Adam Warlock (Will Pouter) into the mix.
One thing that we can expect to hear is a fresh new mix of songs to be played against our group of heroic underdogs doing superheroic things. Gunn has a tendency to bring out some of those deep cuts in all of his films, so it should be fun to hear what he brings into this.
Dave Bautista, Pom Klementieff, and Vin Diesel also star.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” opens in theaters on May 5, 2023.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3:”
In Marvel Studios’ “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere. But it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life—a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.
