I have a kid who feels brushing his teeth is just SO MUCH WORK! Does this sound like a child living under your roof? I found a solution for my brush-weary child that happens to be good for everyone, even those who don’t find toothbrushing a grueling chore! It’s the Philips Sonicare Power Up toothbrush.
When I received the toothbrush to try out, there was no question as to which if my four children would be chosen to test it out. It would be the child (a teenager, by the way), who leaves a trail of his clothes from his bedroom to the shower. It’s the same child who “dries” himself with the damp towel he left wadded up in the corner of the bathroom all day. He’s also the one who just doesn’t see a whole lot of point in brushing your teeth regularly. How this child manages to have no cavities and fresh breath is beyond me. Still, the teeth must be brushed!
At $19.99, this power toothbrush is more reasonably-priced than most (a factor that, frankly, has kept me from buying a power brush set for the whole family). Here’s the true benefit of the brush: It delivers more brush strokes in one day than a manual can provide in a month! Its cleaning action drives fluid deep between teeth and it removes up to 75% more plaque overall and reaches 2 times more hard-to-reach places as compared to a manual toothbrush. And, if you don’t have noticeable results and a better check-up in 28 days you get your money back! The Sonicare Power Up is intended for children ages 10 and up into adulthood. It is not meant to be for younger children.
I like that it has a 2-minute timer on it to make sure my son is brushing the dentist-recommended time. He’s tired of me saying “now say the alphabet in your head to make sure you’re brushing long enough…”. Like his alarm clock, he knows to brush until the timer goes off, then he’s off the hook – until next time.
Whether you’re dealing with someone for whom brushing feels like a lot of effort or not, I like that you basically just move the brush along your teeth, making sure to get all surfaces, as opposed to frantic brushing movements, some of which can get too overzealous, resulting in receding gums (I learned that one the hard way). The Sonicare Power Up keeps the right amount of pressure and gentleness and does the hard work for you, as long as you’re putting it where it needs to be.
I recommend this brush. Your teeth will be whiter, healthier and it doesn’t even leave time for whining!
Philips Sonicare Power Up retails for $19.99 and can be found at Walmart, Target, Bed Bath & Beyond and Drugstore.com.
