Based in San Diego, California, Cleer Audio has been producing high-performance headphones, earbuds, and speakers for about 10 years. Their sound quality rivals the quality of many other high-end brands with a reasonable price point.
The Roam Sport are in-ear true wireless noise cancelling earbuds. They look similar to the Roam NC just without the Freebit Ear Wings. They feature a lightweight & secure design, IXP4 sweatproof & water resistant, with up to 20 hours of on-the-go playback. This makes it the perfect accessory for your workout routine, be it exercising, running, biking, or hiking.
Here is what you get inside the box:
– Roam Sport Earbuds & Charging Case
– Small and Large Ear Tips (Medium Ear Tips already attached to Earbuds)
– Small and Large Freebit Ear Wings (Medium Freebit Ear Wings already attached to Earbuds)
– USB-A to USB-C Charging Cable
– Quick Start Guide & Warranty
The packaging is really quite nice. I like that there are some out-of-the-box instructions on the flap of the interior packaging. Makes it easy for people who don’t like to open the instruction guide.
The medium ear tips and Freebit ear wings, which are already attached to the earbuds, will fit perfectly on most people. But if the medium size doesn’t feel right, I would definitely swap them with the small or large sizes for the perfect fit and comfort.
I didn’t have too much trouble pairing the earbuds to my mobile device, as it connected to my iPhone right away. However, I did have a little bit of difficulty pairing to my iPad and then realized later that it does not auto-disconnect from the other device. You have to manually disconnect it, then re-connect it to the other device or devices.
As for the sound quality, the Roam Sport features Active Noice Cancelling (ANC) and Ambient Sound Control (ASD). Activate the ANC and ASD with two taps on the earbud. ANC does a pretty good job of keeping the outside noise out, while ASD makes it easy to have conversations without removing the earbuds. The difference was pretty noticeable when I was using it on a windy day, as I could hear the wind blowing by my ears when ASD was activated.
The phone calls sounded great. However, it does pickup background noise quite well, as a friend did say that he could hear the radio that was playing in the background quite vividly.
Touch Controls allow you to change the sound from ANC to ASD, volume, and pair with just a tap. Controlling the sounds takes some practice as you will need to press and hold on to the earbud.
Battery life is up to 20 hours, with 5 hours of playback per charge with an extra 15 hours through the charging case.
Like many sports/workout earbuds, these are sweatproof. IPX4 Sweatproof to be exact and water resistant. Making this the perfect accessory for your toughest activities and workout routine.
Download the Cleer+ to help you personalize your music experience. I love that you can choose from five different EQ settings, Flat, Classical, Jazz, Pop, and Rock, or create a custom setting. You can also have Ambient Noise Control and firmware updates for all their headphones and earbud models through the app.
The Roam Sport earbuds have a really good sound and fit. I went walking and biking all over town with them. Wearing them for hours never felt uncomfortable. I even fell asleep for about five hours with them on. You really do need to read the instructions to learn the tap controls.
