Living in South Florida, at the peak of our summer-time humidity, I was curious to see just how effective Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment would be in keeping with its’ claim to “get unbeatable shine and softness, banish frizz and split ends, and keep your color alive.” The directions state to use the treatment before shampooing, on towel-dry hair, or after it was styled, and I tried it all three ways.
Before shampooing, honestly, I didn’t really understand the benefit of using the Pequi Oil, and in fact, felt like I was wasting it because I washed and conditioned my hair and didin’t feel like there was enough oil left in my hair to make any difference.
I definitely liked to use it on my towel-dry hair, similar to a leave-in conditioner. It did keep down some of the fly-aways and made may hair feel pretty soft.
The best results I had were using it on completely dry hair. I’ll admit, it did give my hair more shine and it honestly felt softer. Surprisingly, even a friend asked what I’d done differently to my hair – who knew one product could be that noticeable?!
As far as banishing frizz – I don’t think there’s ever going to be a 100% solution for this, other than really expensive salon treatments, especially when you live in areas that are infamous for humidity! I didn’t see a difference in my split ends or the color of my hair. I’m assuming that this is something that would take a lot more time to notice.
Couture Colour Pequi Oil Treatment gets a solid B in my book – I’m happy with the shine and softness, as it really did seem to make a difference. As far as frizz and color – the jury is still out, but I’ll keep using it and wait and see!
