Picture IT Friday: I’m addicted to Hipstamatic!

My current favorite iPhone photo app is Hipstamatic. If you know me (really know me) you know that I <3 pictures. My Canon DSLR is awesome but sometimes I just don’t feel like lugging it around. Plus, I’m a busy mom and I don’t always have the time to enhance or stylize my photographs in Photoshop. This is why I love Hipstamatic. Turn on the app, shoot and get creative, fun, vintage images. Then share them with your Facebook/Twitter friends.

The Hipstamatic app is based on the original Hipstamatic 100, which was a cheap analog plastic camera. Hipstamatic can be downloaded through the App Store for $1.99. The app looks like the back of a camera with a square window.

I’ve purchased many of the Hipstamatic add-ons. You can buy different gear and bundles to get cool results. I hardly use the flashes but my favorite film/lens combo is Ina’s 1969 Film and John S. The pictures have a vintage, grainy look to them and they’re really eye-catching.

Getting to your Hipstamatic equipment is simple. Touch the arrow in the bottom right hand corner and you have access to your film and flashes.With just a swipe of your finger you can choose your favorites. The only “cons” (and I’m not really complaining) is that the camera developing time is a bit slow (aren’t we spoiled?). I also have to sometimes guess the alignment. A centered image in the window often results in an off-centered image but this sometimes adds to the character of the camera and photos.

You can also purchase prints of your images through Hipstamatic. I haven’t tried that yet but it’s next on my list. I have hundreds of prints and I’m sharing a few with you here. I almost always have my Canon with me but you’ll always see me capturing cool images with my Hipstamatic. BTW, I’m browsing through Hipstamatic’s featured camera gear right now and I see that they have an item called IcrediBooth! Shoot, it’s only available for iPhone 4… I also love photo booths!
