Muppets will be returning to our screens in a new way that perfectly fits with the current times. Considering that many of us are streaming content through a variety of services on different devices, Disney saw Kermit and the gang deserved a show Disney+. The new series is called Muppets Now, and it will make its debut this coming July.
The trouble is that the Muppets can’t decide on which copy they should promote. Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and Pepe the Prawn, Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog, and more, got into a little Twitter beef amongst themselves to see which key art should be used as the promotion.
Here’s a little preview of that.
Lights! Music! Muppets! …Unscripted! Get ready to see your favorite characters like never before in #MuppetsNow, an Original Series, coming July 31 only on #DisneyPlus. #DisneyBundle pic.twitter.com/1gLtOx3ckl

Fozzie Bear took the first swing with some prop pun comedy by revealing his take on “key art.”
Oh, we went with THAT #MuppetsNow key art? I’ve got something way funnier! Get it? KEY art? Ahhhhh! #WockaWocka! pic.twitter.com/vqG2hRRBnI

Meanwhile, Gonzo may have teased what we are likely to see on the show. Hint, it involves poultry.
Wait, I thought we were going with this #MuppetsNow key art! Didn’t we all agree it needs more chickens?? And more exploding socks… and, of course, lava spiders. pic.twitter.com/8egBdUNd8K

That was followed by Animal of Electric Mayhem saying the show needs more of him, and then Bunson Honeydew revealing some shocking research.
Dr. Bunsen Honeydew here. My research shows that using this #MuppetsNow art would yield impressive results. After all, it was created by Muppet Labs, where the future of key art is being made today! pic.twitter.com/uYuOatQ9zB

Of course, we cannot forget about everyone’s favorite Pig and Frog couple, Kermit and Miss Piggy. The ever so humble Miss Piggy believes she knows what’s best for the show, while Kermit offers a more inclusive approach that must include his favorite banjo.
Good grief. Sorry about this, @DisneyPlus. Don’t worry, we love the #MuppetsNow key art! Though, if you’re looking for my suggestion, I was always partial to this one… I cleaned my banjo right before the photo was taken. pic.twitter.com/xZBlqDb777

Here’s the official plot synopsis for Muppets Now
“’ Muppets Now’ is The Muppets Studio’s first original series for Disney+. In the six-episode season, Scooter rushes to make his delivery deadlines and upload the brand-new Muppet series for streaming. They are due now, and he’ll need to navigate whatever obstacles, distractions, and complications the rest of the Muppet gang throws at him.
Overflowing with spontaneous lunacy, surprising guest stars and more frogs, pigs, bears (and whatevers) than legally allowed, the Muppets cut loose in ‘Muppets Now’ with the kind of startling silliness and heartfelt fun that first made them famous.”
It’s not exactly clear what kind of format the show will take. There have been different iterations from comedy sketches to mockumentaries. So it should be interesting to see what creative route it will take for Disney+
Muppets Now will make its debut, exclusively on Disney+, on July 31.
