MOANA PREMIERE!
Hollywood Blvd was transformed into a blue carpet Hawaiian oasis to celebrate the Los Angeles premiere of Disney’s MOANA. The event was streaming with filmmakers, cast, performers and special guests who were all getting in the Aloha spirit!
Disney’s animated feature-film Moana follows the journey of a young teenager who always questioned her strong connection to the ocean. Moana’s grandmother guides her to her destiny and Moana comes to the realization that her mission in life is to set sail to save her people and her island. Though the mission seems almost impossible (Moana is a self-taught sailer- this is her first trip, ever!), she remains focused and positive even in the face of adversity.
What was our blue carpet journey like?
It started with a presentation of Lei Flowers and a photo with performers!
Then a selfie high-above the blue carpet! If you look closely you’ll find Lin-Manuel Miranda.
A tropical adventure wouldn’t be complete without Dole Whip! This was more like a smoothie than what I’ve had at Disneyland or the Dole plantation but the weather was warm on the carpet and The Dole Whip definitely kept us cool. We were also treated to Hawaiian dishes and tropical desserts (See our Moana inspired cupcake recipe).
We were entertained by various performers. I still don’t know how Hula dancers move their hips that way!
Kids made jewelry at craft tables.
A photo booth captured this fun photo of me and Sassymamainla.
I also walked away with HAVAIANAS flip flops. They are comfy and cute!
It was finally time to watch MOANA at the El Capitan Theatre! Before the feature presentation, the audience watched a performance by the musicians Olivia Foa’i, Opetai a Foa’i and band Te Vaka which was followed by Disney’s latest short, Inner Workings.
Are you planning a Hawaiian themed party? I’d use this post as a check-list to inspire your Island celebration! Delicious foods, fun activities and hula dancing would create the Ahola spirit no matter where you are! Until then, MOANA is in theaters now!
