“Clifford the Big Red Dog” is getting his own movie, again. Based on the popular line of children’s books of the same name written by Norman Bridwell, Clifford has been adapted into a number of media from animated series to a couple of straight-to-video movies. So it was inevitable that he would be turned into a feature film from a major studio. Now we are getting to see what happens when a big red dog is let loose.
Paramount Pictures has released a brand-new trailer for the upcoming film, which sees Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) welcome a red puppy to her new home. But she never imagined that he would turn into a giant ten-foot dog. The two then go on a one-of-a-kind adventure around New York City, which includes Clifford playing around with giant inflatable balls, accidentally swallowing tiny pugs, overloading the veterinarian weight machine, and all kinds of other mischief that a big red dog could cause.
But that doesn’t mean it will be a lot of fun as people want to capture Clifford and turn him into some sort of sideshow gimmick.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for Clifford the Big Red Dog, directed by Walt Becker:
When middle-schooler Emily Elizabeth (Darby Camp) meets a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese) who gifts her a little, red puppy, she never anticipated waking up to find a giant ten-foot hound in her small New York City apartment. While her single mom (Sienna Guillory) is away for business, Emily and her fun but impulsive uncle Casey (Jack Whitehall) set out on an adventure that will keep you on the edge-of-your-seat as our heroes take a bite out of the Big Apple. Based on the beloved Scholastic book character, Clifford will teach the world how to love big!
Additionally, for every ❤️ or share the #CliffordMovie trailer gets, Paramount is donating $1 to Best Friends Animal Society, up to $20,000. So please help us raise money for a great cause and spread the word!
Clifford the Big Red dog trounces into theaters on September 17, 2021.
