The brand new Antojitos Cocona Mexicana is now open at Universal CityWalk. This modern eatery serves delicious menu items created by executive chef Gian Caterins from Brazil. We were invited to a press preview to experience the Antojitos first-hand!
The restaurant definitely doesn’t lack in ambiance. The atmosphere was lively and we were excited to find seats in the outdoor seating area. Live, Latin-style musical performers entertained the group while many guests were drawn to the large bar to try one of the many drinks options . Antojitos offers 150 tequilas from around the world as well as hand crafted margaritas, cervezas and other delicious beverages. We tired the following:
Pineapple Fire and Ice
Dulce Vida Pineapple Jalapeno Marnier, agave nectar, fresh lime juice with a pineapple popsicle (MY FAVORITE!)
Butterfly Corazón
Corazón Blanco Infused Butterfly Pea Tea, Dulce Vida Tequila, agave nectar, fresh grapefruit and lemon juice
Cadillac
Patron Silver Tequila, Grand Marnier agave nectar, fresh lime juice
Jamaica Bee’s Knees
Boodles Gin, Jamaica honey with fresh lemon juice
We also sampled a variety of menu items including the Ceviche which was tangy and slightly sweet. We loaded up on their freshly made signature guacamole and pomegranate guacamole. Pomegranate seeds as topping to guac was so good! Each bite was sweet and crunchy. I love when chefs add a twist to traditional foods to enhance our taste buds.
Tonight’s Taco choices included Pollo Mole, a Vegan Chorizo con Fundido, and Jicama Shrimp Taco (favorite of my daughters) served in house made tortillas.

After a long day at Universal Studios, plan a visit to Antojitos Cocona Mexicana for a fun night with the family or even plan a date night at this new addition to City Walk. The decor is inviting, the local Latin artists add to the cool ambiance and a menu featuring amazing tasting food choices from traditional dishes to modern twists. The food and service was on point and I recommend sitting in the patio to people watch! There might be a wait so try to reserve a table.
