Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have released the final trailer for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.” The fourth installment in the MCU’s Spider-Man franchise sees its titular hero at his most isolated yet as he attempts to rebuild his life following the events of “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
It’s a brand-new day for Peter Parker (Tom Holland). The kid from Queens has dedicated his life to protecting New York City, even as he is forced to watch from a distance as his former friends continue living their lives with no memory of him.
But Peter’s commitment to being Spider-Man may be the only thing capable of stopping a shocking new threat to the city and the people he still loves: a powerful villain no one can even see.
The world may have forgotten Peter Parker, but he hasn’t forgotten them.
The marketing for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has repeatedly depicted Peter at one of the saddest and loneliest points of his life. He has no friends, no family and no one who knows the person behind the mask, yet he continues protecting a city that will never understand everything he has sacrificed for it.
The final trailer further emphasizes Peter’s isolation while offering new glimpses of the allies and enemies who will enter his life. While Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya) may no longer remember their former best friend, Peter’s attempts to move forward bring him into contact with several new faces, including a mysterious character played by Sadie Sink.
It will be interesting to see how Sink’s character will help push the MCU in the direction that it is going in. There is much speculation that her character could have a connection to the X-Men. And the powers that are being displayed where this mysterious force is taking over people’s minds seems to indicate that there is a psychic power at play.
The footage also teases the return of Frank Castle, better known as the Punisher (Jon Bernthal), whose brutal approach to fighting crime places him at odds with Spider-Man. Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan following his MCU debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming, while Mark Ruffalo once again steps into the role of Bruce Banner. Tramell Tillman also joins the ensemble in an undisclosed role.
