Universal Pictures has released the first trailer for “She Said.” The upcoming film stars Carey Mulligan (“Promising Young Woman” and Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick) as two New York Times reporters Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor, whose reporting exposed disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein’s history of abuse and sexual misconduct against women. Their investigation would help launch the #MeToo movement, which would help give way to other women speaking out against their aggressors.
The trailer follows Twohey and Kantor as they strategize breaking one of the biggest stories that would change the way we talk about sexual harassment and expose the truths behind those who commit it. The two go on door-to-door interviews to gather the evidence they need to expose Weinstein for his crimes, all the while having Weinstein’s lawyers denying the allegations and being gaslit by men. But the staunch reporters convince the traumatized victims across the country to go on record and “expose the system that protects abusers.”
Weinstein would later be sentenced to 23 years of imprisonment after being found guilty of rape in the third degree and a criminal sexual act
“She Said” also stars Patricia Clarkson, Andre Braugher, and Peter Friedman.
The film is produced by Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, and Jeremy Kleiner.
“She Said” is directed by Emmy winner Maria Schrader (Unorthodox limited series) from a screenplay by Oscar® winner Rebecca Lenkiewicz (Ida). Universal Pictures has scheduled it for a November 18, 2022 release.
