The 4th Annual Lowell Film Festival
“Lowell on the Churn: The American Civil War, 1861 – the Present”
Thursday, April 28 – Saturday, April 30, 2011
History Buffs, check this out!! This year, I am excited to check out the 4th annual Lowell Film Festival. I plan on putting my munchkin in her stroller and taking The Walking Tour of Civil War Lowell! Perfect for learning about my city and taking some cool photos in this historic city! I love living in a city that is rich in history. This is a wonderful event to experience with the entire family.

About the Festival:
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. The Lowell Film Festival will showcase classic films set during the War, historical documentaries focusing on the era, and contemporary independent films that explore themes traceable to the Civil War and its societal impact. The City of Lowell itself is a key part of this year’s homage to the Civil War as it was home to Addison Whitney and Luther Ladd, two soldiers in the Massachusetts 6th Regiment who were among the first four casualties in 1861. Their resting place is in the heart of Lowell at the Ladd-Whitney Monument in front of historic City Hall. To bring the City’s fascinating Civil War connections to life, the Lowell Film Festival will feature talks, tours, and discussions by historians and educators who will share their passion and knowledge on Lowell’s “Civil War places.”
All film screenings at the Lowell Film Festival are FREE admission (exhibits excluded).
Seating for the Lowell Film Festival is GENERAL ADMISSION – no tickets required
