From the team that brought you The Legend of Korra and Avatar: The Last Airbender, and DreamWorks Animation comes an all-new Netflix Original Series, Voltron Legendary Defender, debuting June 10, 2016.
If you were a child of the 80’s, you probably remember the popular animated series. There have been a few other Voltron animated series that have aired over the years since then, with mixed fan reaction over the redesigns of Voltron, CGI animation and characters. These were not as good as the original. This new series seems to have gone back to the roots of the original series, fleshed out the backstory and updated certain elements, resulting in a much better series that fans should enjoy.
On Friday, March 25, 2016, at the WonderCon 2016 VOLTRON Panel, executive Producer Joaquim Dos Santos (The Legend of Korra, Avatar: The Last Airbender), Co-Executive Producer Lauren Montgomery (The Legend of Korra), and writer Tim Hedrick (The Legend of Korra, Avatar: The Last Airbender) sat alongside newly unveiled cast members to showcase never-before-seen artwork and footage from Voltron: Legendary Defender.
Also joining the panel was moderator, Jessica Chobot from Nerdist, with voice cast members:
• Kimberly Brooks – Princess Allura (Ben 10: Omniverse, Justice League: War)
• Rhys Darby – Coran (What We Do in the Shadows, Flight of the Concords)
• Josh Keaton – Shiro, Black Lion (Green Lantern: The Animated Series, Transformers Prime)
• Tyler Labine – Hunk, Yellow Lion (Reaper, Tucker & Dale vs. Evil)
• Jeremy Shada – Lance, Blue Lion (Finn in Adventure Time, Batman: The Brave and the Bold)
• Bex Taylor-Klaus – Pidge, Green Lion (Arrow, Scream: The Series, iZombie)
and a surprise video greeting from Steven Yeun – Keith, Red Lion (The Walking Dead, The Legend of Korra)
Attendees were treated to a sneak peek of the epic journey five friends embark upon as they are thrust into a sprawling intergalactic war, and only through the power of teamwork can they unite to form the mighty warrior known as VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER!
Dreamwork Animation’s VOLTRON: LEGENDARY DEFENDER arrives June 10, 2016, with 13 episodes, only on Netflix!
