“Spiderman Far From Home” is available now on Blu-Ray to enjoy from your personal home entertainment system and family movie night!
The film has Peter Parker leaving his Spidey suit behind to head to Europe with his classmates for a school field trip. His hope is to get closer to MJ and profess his feelings on the Eiffel Tower. What can go wrong for a superhero looking to take some time off from crime fighting? If you haven’t seen the movie, you’re in for a swinging and exciting story!
The more-than-capable chaperones are the noneother than J.B. Smoove (Mr. Dell) and Martin Starr (Mr. Harrington)- two students teachers.
ThatsitLA was part of a field trip hosted by Sony and special guests Smoove and Starr who spent the day as our chaperones for a fun-filled bus tour. We got a chance to go behind the scenes to see what’s involved in creating a kickass superhero film filled with amazing illusions, fantastic costumes and jaw-dropping stunts.
First stop: 1 Third Floor Studio
Third Floor Studio created the pre-visuals graphics for Spider-Man Far From Home.CEO and Founder Chris Edwards broke down the multifaceted layers of work he and his team produce, making it easier for us lay people to understand. Their storyboards and creative ideas helped Marvel visualize the film. Third Floor Studio designers digitally map out scenes for the film’s overall look and feel.
Your kids can try their own hand at producing animation and experimenting with movie creation by using movie or investigating other creative apps such as Magisto.
Second Stop: Ironhead Studio
Jose Fernandez founder of Ironhead Studios gave us an exclusive tour of their warehouse that features costume design items they’ve produced as well as top secret items coming soon. Jose gave us a run down on Spiderman suits from this film and its predecessors. He takes into consideration move-ability and comfort of the actors when designing these complicated pieces of art. The studio has an impressive resume of films including “Batman v. Superman”, “Black Panther”, “Thor” and more!
Smoove and Moore gave us some heroic poses as they went under a 3-D scan, a process that digitally renders the actors in order to streamline the intense costume molding process!
Get sewing with your kids! Kids can get creative with fabric to create their own capes or emblems.
Third Stop: The Magic Castle
We had a nutrition break at the famous magic club which prepped us for a special performance by world class illusionist Jason Latimer who uses science to create illusions that dumbfound fans of all ages!
Latimer proves that you don’t have to be a superhero to have superpowers. Even kids can create illusions at home to create superpowers.
How can children create illusions at home? Did you know that if you dunk a Pyrex bowl into a bowl of vegetable oil the Pyrex disappears. Viola invisible!
Create your own fun field Spiderman field trip with your kids and head to the Discovery Cube in the OC or the California Science Center. Or if you know a member of the Magic Castle, maybe plan a Sunday brunch with magicians! Get your kids thinking and challenging themselves.
Thanks to our chaperones for entertaining us on the bus ride and thanks to Sony for the marvelous field trip!
