As the two baddies team up, Sonic and his trusty sidekick, Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessey), embark on a globe-trotting adventure searching for an all-powerful emerald before it falls into the wrong hands.

Though the original film wasn’t too well-received by critics, it was enough of a commercial hit for Paramount to follow it up with another film. After all, a family-friendly film grossing $319 million just shortly before the pandemic kicked in is pretty impressive. We will have to wait and see how it does when people feel more confident about watching a movie in a theater as some case numbers are going down.
Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Adam Pally, Shemar Moore also star.
Directed by Jeff Fowler, using a script penned by Pat Casey & Josh Miller and John Whittington, based on a story by Pat Casey & Josh Miller, Paramount has scheduled “Sonic The Hedgehog 2” for an April 8, 2022, release.
