I participated in the Lion King and Born in China In-Home Walt Disney World Press Event.
Thanks to Disney for hosting us. Our opinions are our own.
Festival of the Lion King is an awesome musical production that’s not to be missed! It is located at the Harambe Theater within Animal Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Guests will be singing along to hits from Lion King such as “Hakuna Matata” as well as the fabulous finale to the film’s classic title, “Circle of Life” with stars Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa. The three are joined by fabulous singers, stunning acrobatic performers, and even a daring fire dancer!
During our recent visit, Ernie Sabella, the movie voice of Pumbaa, was in the audience. What a wonderful coincidence! Children, as well as their parents, gasped when he stood up and spoke the infamous words, “Hakuna Matata”! It was a memorable moment and shows you that you never know what Disney Magic is in store for all of us!
After this sweet surprise, the lights dim while beautifully costumed singers walk out to the stage. They begin to direct different parts of the audience in creating the sounds of a giraffe, a warthog, a lion as well as an elephant. One person from each section can show off their sounds for the audience and then the rest can follow along! From there we follow a wonderful rendition of Simba’s journey of becoming the Pride Land’s king! The lively show is 30 minutes long and will keep you captivated and cool for the duration. My last visit to Florida was a particularly warm one! So, sitting down in a cool venue was a welcome break. I truly enjoyed singing along to all the songs while watching the Zany Tumble Monkeys who pick off and eat “bugs” while they are running and tumbling around the floor!
The Lion King costumes are magical. The stilt walkers are impressive and wow! This stage show is one of the best I’ve seen in any of the Disney theme parks. The performers are extremely talented! If your kids have always dreamed of being in a Broadway musical they may have a chance to be a part of the finale. Children were pulled from the audience to dance with the performers through the “African Savannah”. The looks on their faces were priceless.
I suggest getting in line early for a performance as it’s General Admission. But really, any seat in the house is a good one or get a FastPass! I’ve seen Festival of the Lion King twice now and there’s so much to look at that it was even better the second time. The Festival of the Lion King show runs throughout the day. Make sure to check show schedule on the Disney site or while you are at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
This is a must-see for any Lion King fan!
You can take home the magic on August 29th when Lion King The Circle of Life Edition is made available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital.
