Sponsored by Big City Moms (www.bigcitymoms.com) and TheBump.com, this is THE party to go to for expectant moms and new parents in NYC. Last Monday, I got the opportunity to attend and had an absolute blast. I attended this huge shower event five years ago and I am so impressed with how it has evolved – the attention to detail is impressive.
This is seriously, a PG girl’s dream. Beautiful, airy locale downtown with clean, plentiful bathroom facilities, bars throughout the venue with huge selection of tasty, flavored waters and sodas, free mini cupcakes were everywhere you turned and Big Daddy’s Diner serving out grilled cheese sandwiches and mini ramekins of mac and cheese. All this pampering while moms-to-be got to browse and test the hottest products from more than 80 leading baby related companies, including innovative strollers from Britax, Baby Jogger and Bugaboo, BPA-free essential products from Playtex, BornFree and Summer Infant, and baby must-haves from Sage Spoonfuls, Johnson & Johnson and Skip Hop. There were also educational seminars featured throughout the evening.
Some highlights for me were:
– Aden + Anais: This Australian manufacturer of muslin swaddling materials is my favorite baby product on this planet. New fabric designs, bibs and burp clothes were on display. They were also showing off a soon-to-be officially launched baby skincare line and infant clock/noise machine.
– Mountain Buggy: The carriage maker was showing off a new creative design that allows moms of multiple kids to have one in the carriage and another ride on the detachable scooter. How cool is that?
– Skip Hop: This Company continues to impress me with how intuitively they design products that serve the needs of moms. With all the safety concerns surrounding bumpers lately, they are now selling their bedding sets with bumper-less options. And even more genius, they have designed their sheets with complementary designed fabrics on the sides so that the crib mattress sides feature a great de facto bed skirt sort of look. They is launching a new partnership, featuring Jonathan Adler-fabric on their diaper bags and diaper wallets – really cool, funky designs with nary a pastel bunny or chick in sight! Halleluiah!
Oh and I’ve saved the best for last – the event organizers have compiled the absolute biggest and best goody bag ever. As I left for the evening, I was presented with a 30+ pound tote bag filled with hundreds of dollars’ worth of freebies from baby companies and a full-sized Diaper Genie. My husband and I spent an hour on the living room floor going through the bag – it was like a stocking on Christmas morning! His favorite item was Sassy’s sippy cup and bottle cleaning kit. He is the self-appointed cleaner of cups in our house so he loved all the specially-designed brushes and tools. One of my favorite products is the Sassy mold-deterring bath toys. They have designed water-squirting animals that come in two pieces to allow you to scrub the insides. Love it!
