For some, May 4th is just May 4th. But Star Wars fans, its May The Fourth otherwise known as Star Wars day. The Star Wars date is a play on iconic Jedi catchphrase “May the Force be with you.” As such, you can expect many Star Wars-related celebration events to be held across the globe. But for those living in sunny southern California, the US Bank Tower will be holding something extraordinarily special.
Home to OUE’s Skyspace Slide, Jedi knights, Sith lords, galactic bounty hunters, and everyone else from a galaxy far, far away are encouraged to come to Skyspace LA to celebrate Star Wars Day with an event 70 floors above the city of Los Angeles. In collaboration with the 501 Legion, a an all-volunteer organization dedicated to promoting Star Wars fandom and Rebel Legion, a Star Wars costuming club, Skyspace LA will be holding a Star Wars event unlike any other.
The event starts at 6pm and will run until 8pm that same night.
Guests attending the event will be able to meet-and-greet Star Wars characters old and new 1,000 feet above Downtown Los Angeles. Complete with a 360 degree view of the city, they will also be able to take the Skyspace slide, which takes them from the 70th floor of the building to the 69th floor. But for those who want to take in the sights, there are also two observation decks that offer breathtaking views of Los Angeles: from the San Gabriels to Catalina Island.
There’s also interactive exhibits on the 54th floor including a variety of digital elements for guests to enjoy on their way to the top. The 360-degree LA Skyline Time Lapse captures some of the city’s most notable landmarks and neighborhoods, and the Infinity Mirror creates reflections upon reflections down an old elevator shaft and the Silhouette Wall uses pixels to create reflective images based on individual body movement.
General admission (admission to Skyspace LA plus one ride down the slide) will cost $33 per person. VIP admission (admission to Skyspace LA, plus1 ride down the Skyslide, event t-shirt, meet/great with HotShot photo, and drawstring bag) will cost $50 per person.
