After making her big-screen debut as a supporting character in “Iron Man 2” way back in 2010, “Black Widow” will finally get the chance to go on her own adventure in her very first standalone film. Scarlet Johansson reprises the role that she’s been playing for the past ten years. But this won’t be just another generic origins story as the film takes place shortly after the event of “Captain America: Civil War” and before “Avengers: Infinity War.” While most would say it is a long time coming for Black Widow to get her own movie, we will finally get to see the life of spy turn avenger turn fugitive – at least according to that timeline.
But as we prepare for her pseudo-return, Marvel Studios has announced that fans can purchase advance tickets on Fandango. That’s if you choose to see the film in theaters. However, if you decide to see it at home, then you can pre-order the film on Disney+’s Premiere Access. Disney+ subscribers can pre-order Premier Access to “Black Widow” from June 11 – July 8 for $29.99 in the U.S. and Canada. Once subscribers get Premier Access to the movie, they can watch it as many times as they want on any platform where Disney+ is available, with an active Disney+ subscription.
And just in case you’ve forgotten what’s happened with your favorite Avenger, Marvel Studios has also released a featurette. Which highlights some of the film’s intense action sequences including some of the practical stunt work.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “Black Widow:”
Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow confronts the darker parts of her ledger when a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past arises. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Natasha must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.
Florence Pugh as Yelena, David Harbour as Alexei/The Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz as Melina.
Honestly, after being cooped up at home for a year, I am ready to see the latest chapter of the MCU. “Black Widow”—the first film in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—is directed by Cate Shortland and produced by Kevin Feige.
“Black Widow” hits theaters and Disney+ with Premiere Access on July 9, 2021.
