Living in California means an endless amount of donut shops and burger joints. Burger fair is pretty standard but quality, toppings and a delicious sauce can take a burger to the next level. When a new restaurant opens in my neighborhood, Hollywood, I definitely take notice. Hollywood Burger has been in town since January of this year. I was excited to stop in for a bite. When we arrived we quickly realized that this restaurant is more than a good burger!
Naturally, we ordered burgers! The Hollywood Burger meat is never frozen and is served on a hearty potato bun. My husband didn’t hesitate when he saw the VIP Bacon Cheeseburger on the menu. The burger is topped with delightful Applewood smoked bacon, red onion, tomato, lettuce, melted American Cheese & Hollywood Secret Sauce. The burger patty was a good size and was cooked perfectly. I went for the Hollywood Classic Burger which is topped with red onion, tomato, lettuce and their sauce (similar to Thousand Island dressing but not?). The parts to the burger are simple but simply put, these burgers tasted great.
Not feeling a burger? Hollywood Burger has chicken sandwiches, chicken tenders (don’t forget to order dipping sauces), hot dogs (a ton of free toppings to choose from), salads and veggie burgers are available. Kids can order a hamburger, chicken tenders or a Hollywood Dog off the “Young Hollywood Menu”.
Sadly, the items do not come with sides which seems to be common these days. We also ordered a side of fries and Tater Tots. The fries were good but what was even better? Their Tater Tots! I love a good tater tot. The tots weren’t greasy- just golden brown and crispy. They were highly addictive and I had a hard time sharing. What I did share was Hollywood Burger’s delectable Oreo cookie shake. I heard that they also make a mean Neapolitan shake. I’ll save that for next time.
Adults, pair your burger with a draft beer. My husband had the Lagunitas IPA (brewed in California!) with his meal. Or if you are planning a night out with friends, Uber it up and order margaritas or wine. I would definitely take advantage of their happy hour.
Whether you are catching a show at Pantages, or staying at the W Hotel or checking out the stars on Hollywood Blvd, a visit to Hollywood Burgers will not disappoint. The atmosphere is laid back and this restaurant is the spot for great food and friendly service. Don’t worry, there isn’t any pretension here, but you will feel the star treatment from the staff. And most importantly, the prices are reasonable!
Hollywood Burger is located in a booming area (almost directly across from the Pantages) at 6250 Hollywood Blvd, near Argyle Ave and Hollywood Blvd. Parking can be a challenge but we found a metered spot near by for $2 an hour. The Trader Joe’s parking lot is near by.
We were invited to try out the food! Our opinions are solely our own.
