In 2018, the “Halloween” film franchise was brought back to life by director and co-writer David Gordon Green. And after sequels and reboots, this new version was met with critical acclaim and commercial success. Of course, a film like this doesn’t meet its end so easily. As such, The Shape will be back in “Halloween Kills,” and this time he is out on more than just a killing spree. But the town of Haddonfield won’t just let a killer out on the loose.
As you might have guessed, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) attempted to kill Michael Myers by trapping him in the basement of her home and then setting the house on fire. However, as the trailer tells us, he survives his fiery fate, and is not motivated by vengeance. But it appears that he wants to return home, to the place where it all started. One thing is for sure, it will be a giant blood bath along the way.
While Strode’s return was inevitable, many of the characters from 1978 original are also returning. Including Charles Cyphers as Leigh Brackett, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, and Nancy Stephens as Marion Chambers.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “Halloween Kills:”
In 2018, David Gordon Green’s Halloween, starring icon Jamie Lee Curtis, killed at the box office, earning more than $250 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing chapter in the four-decade franchise and setting a new record for the biggest opening weekend in history for a horror film starring a woman.
And the Halloween night when Michael Myers returned isn’t over yet.
Minutes after Laurie Strode (Curtis), her daughter Karen (Judy Greer) and granddaughter Allyson (Andi Matichak) left masked monster Michael Myers caged and burning in Laurie’s basement, Laurie is rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, believing she finally killed her lifelong tormentor.
But when Michael manages to free himself from Laurie’s trap, his ritual bloodbath resumes. As Laurie fights her pain and prepares to defend herself against him, she inspires all of Haddonfield to rise up against their unstoppable monster.
The Strode women join a group of other survivors of Michael’s first rampage who decide to take matters into their own hands, forming a vigilante mob that sets out to hunt Michael down, once and for all.
Evil dies tonight.
Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, and Will Patton also star.
“Halloween Kills” opens in theaters and launches on NBCUniversal’s streaming service, Peacock, on October 15, 2021.
