We’re really excited to welcome Princess Elena to the world of Disney Princesses!
As a Latin writer who grew up loving Belle and Jasmine, I’ve always wanted to see a princess who was more like me. And it seems like my wish and the wish of all Latin Disney lovers is coming true.
With Elena of Avalor making her debut this summer on a special TV event, voiced by Aimee Carrero (Freeform’s “Young and Hungry”), we’re getting a bit more representation in our line of Disney Princesses. Inspired by diverse Latin cultures, creator and executive producer Craig Gerber (“Sofia the first”) has created a new series to explore the life of a whole new heroine that fans can follow.
Families worldwide will be enchanted by the series which follows the 16-year old ascendant to the throne in the fairytale kingdom of Avalor. Elena will represent our generation’s clever, bold and caring girls as she rules her kingdom after saving it from an evil sorceress. She doesn’t need a prince to rule!! Just her friends and Grand Council. In her adventures we’ll get a new sort of Princess who’s learning to be a great leader while also keeping in mind the importance of family and tradition.
Elena’s inspiring story will hit screens this year in 33 languages in 163 countries on Disney’s television channels worldwide! So not only is Elena joining the Disney Princesses, she is getting to be known on a wide scale and that makes her official. Hopefully soon we’ll be seeing more of the Princesses hit the big screen in the coming years. With Moana joining this year, we’ll have TWO new princesses joining the legacy.
For those who love the Disney Parks and can’t wait to meet her, Elena will be appearing as part of Walt Disney World‘s “Awaken Summer” event at the Magic Kingdom. Her introduction at the Disneyland Resort will take place at Disney California Adventure.
I know I’m excited to meet her! Are you? Let us know in the comments below.
