Does your family love cars? If so, then bring the entire family to The L.A. Auto Show. Visiting the show has turned into a tradition for us over the past 5 years. Parents can check out their dream cars while juniors can pretend to floor it in the showroom. It’s a fun time for kids of all ages, especially for those hoping for their first-time cars or an amazing upgrade.Thankfully, new cars have many safety features easing us nervous parents when their kids are behind the wheel. This year’s show features the latest and greatest from the auto idustry. Check out what to do at this year’s L.A. Auto Show:
Upon walking through the entrance of the South Hall, walk to your left and check out a life-sized LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron built with over one billion LEGO bricks. The frame, grill and seatbelt are the only items not made with LEGO. The best part about this car? It actually drives, and tops out at 20 MPH! Do the kids want to build their own Bugatti, LEGO has a set that is available for young engineers.
It seems most car brands have a VR experience for people at their showcase areas. Get behind the wheel of Kia’s new Telluride, or become a superhero at Nissan. Our favorite was Chevy’s Virtual All Star Homerun Challenge. Step up to home plate and take a swing for a homerun. My daughter hit a couple of baseballs out of the park!
Dogs! Subaru Loves Pets initiative have partnered with local animal shelters as well as made donations to the ASPCA. They also have been involved with the rescue and adoption of animals. Check out Subaru’s Animal Adoption Center to meet wonderful animals and possibly bring home a pet!
Take a test drives. Kids are allowed to experience car demos with an adult. If you are really interested in a particular vehicle this is ihe perfect time to take the car for an actual ride (short but sweet) around the city. It’s nice to get a feel for a car’s performance especially in DTLA!
Expect exciting vehicle debuts during the Expo as well as a look at conceptual, futuristic cars. The Lexus LF-30 Concept electric vehicle is gorgeous part of their line. This car is stunning! The motors are located in the wheels. Another show-stopper is the Vision Mercedes Simplex from Mercedes-Benz. Wow, this is one cool car! I can picture ZZ Top taking this one for a spin.
Take a photo in front of Guinevere, the van from Disney•Pixar’s “Onward.”
Of course, this is the time to sit in the best pickup trucks. You gotta head over to Chevy to check out their Silverado line, as well as look under the hoods of the mighty Dodge Charger 50th Anniversary model. Then head to the lower level to Galpin’s for cool customizations at their GALPIN’S HALL OF CUSTOMS. The colors alone will blow your mind!
