Cocina Mexicana is the hottest eatery at Universal Studios Hollywood. Located in the former Plaza Grill in the upper lot. Guests can order from a choice of tacos, wet burritos, taco salads and more! I definitely appreciate a variety of food options at a theme park especially when you usually spend an entire day exploring. I look for more than a hamburger or pizza! Thanks to Universal for inviting us to try out items from their menu.
Vegetarians will be pleased to know that the walk up service counter offers plant based Impossible Foods as a protein option which my husband tried. He ordered the three Impossible Taco plate that came with a side of rice and beans.
I munched on the regular taco salad while husband devoured his Impossible tacos. It’s awesome vegetarian options are available for those who still like the taste of meat. We were impressed with the way the food was prepared. The Impossible tacos were drizzled with lime queso for added flavor, served on soft tortillas. Boy was he was sissified with the amount! Regular chicken and beef are also available.
I am a sucker for a good taco salad. Cocina’s did not disappoint! The taco salad was a massive size, with seasoned meat (it has a kick to it), refried beans, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and lettuce with a complimentary avocado ranch to top off your salad. I was actually surprised by the heat of the seasoning but it was perfect.
We also ordered guacamole and chips. The guac was chunky and delicious! This guac was the real deal. For dessert we ordered buñuelos sprinkled with a cinnamon and sugar mixture. Yum! This Mexican treats hit the spot but mine was missing the caramel sauce. Definitely ask for the sauce!
I think I saved the best for last- Margaritas are available for guests 21+. Yasss! strawberry, mango and classic lime will help you relax during your meal. Hubby’s mood was enhanced thanks to this classic frozen margarita. It was refreshing on a warm day and hit the spot.
