One of the most quintessential Los Angeles summer experiences has to be the Barnsdall Fridays Wine Nights at Barnsdall Park. This event has been on my LA bucket list for years! This summer marks the 17th annual series, running from May 29 through September 11, and I’m finally checking it off the list with one of my best girl friends.

Barnsdall Art Park has always held a special place in my heart. My daughter has taken children’s art classes there over the years, and seeing some of her work displayed in the gallery made it feel even more meaningful to our family. We’ve spent afternoons there having little picnics on the grass, soaking in the sunset and enjoying one of the best hidden views in the city.
There’s just something about Barnsdall that feels so perfectly LA: art, community, warm summer nights, and people gathering together on a hillside overlooking the city. Barnsdall Fridays Wine Nights is a favorite summer tradition.
The event is set atop Olive Hill and the West Lawn of Hollyhock House – Los Angeles’ only UNESCO World Heritage Site, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. With general admission priced at $55, guests can enjoy four glasses of wine from Silverlake Wine, along with a rotating lineup of local food trucks and DJ performances throughout the series.
Attendees will also have evening access to exhibitions at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery as well as Friday Art Nights, which take place later in the season. A limited number of $90 tickets will grant guests after-hours access to explore the historic Hollyhock House through intimate interior tours; designated driver tickets are also available.
As a cornerstone fundraiser, 100 percent of proceeds support arts programming and preservation at the park, with this year’s fundraiser especially critical amid proposed budget and staffing cuts to the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
Barnsdall Art Park is located at 4800 Hollywood Boulevard. Attendees are encouraged to plan for safe transportation, including ride share or public transit; on-site parking is limited. Tickets are available for purchase at www.barnsdall.org.
