Space Jam returns! This July 16 Warner Bros. will release Space Jam: A New Legacy starring LeBron James as the leading man. This stories antagonist AL G. Rhythm, played by the fantastic Don Cheadle, wreaks havoc on the “Warnerverse”. AL G. is a sinister artificial intelligence avatar that assembles a roster of video game-enhanced athletes to compete against LeBron James, Bugs Bunny and the Looney Tunes in another high-stakes basketball game. Don brought amazing charisma and comedy to this “virtual” role. The Warnerverse is beefed up with dazzling mix of CGI, 2D and 3D effects. Don’s AL G. Rhythm proves to be a formidable foe in the newest version of the Space Jam legacy.
I got a chance to do a ZOOM meet-up with Don Cheadle and a cast of dad bloggers after seeing the movie. Don was humble and gracious enough to talk to us about the deep familial themes in the movie as well as importance of allowing your kids the chance the chase their OWN dreams and say, “Let me do ‘me’!”
Although Don has adult children, that did not mean he has moved on from what it means to be a good father. He still has very strong connections with his kids. One of them choose to go into the film industry, like dad, but on their own accord. The other is still trying to find their way. Regardless, Don was always there with compassion, care and to listen.
Space Jam: Space Jam: A New Legacy is THE family film for the summer! There are some many thematic and visual levels to this animated masterpiece. You can relate to the father-son struggle and the need to find that happy medium and mutual respect. The mixed media is a must see on the big screen! If you are looking for a funny family film to be your first movie experience post-pandemic, that is also starring all of your Looney Tune favorites, along with hundreds of other ‘Warnerverse’ characters, then check out Space Jam: A New Legacy this July 16 in theaters everywhere!
