Cirque du Soleil’s Crystal is similar to some of their other magical, dreamy shows featuring some of the finest performers from around the world. This Cirque show is unique because this is the first acrobatic performance on ice! Crystal features 43 performers, 18 professional skaters, 1 clown, 3 musicians and 21 acrobats. The show is currently at theCitizens Business Bank Arena and I was curious to see how this would play out!
Crystal is a teenage girl’s journey of empowerment and self- discovery. She finds her voice while her imagination explores a mystical world.
There are 15 acts telling the story of Crystal’s journey. Jugglers, trapeze artists and pole jumpers are intertwined with amazing skating choreography that will have Cirque fans of all ages in awe of the performers strength, grace and teamwork.
I loved the School playground/Hockey act. Skaters flipped across the ice in a titular showcase of twists and jumps! Ballroom was also another favorite. Crystal performs a wonderful dance with a suitor and they glide across the ice and the sky. This was a beautiful moment of growth and love.
Each Cirque De Soleil show has a unique theme coupled with the exciting, entertaining acts that makes this group so amazing. Crystal is no different. Expect sportsmanship, strength, colorful costumes, dance, beautiful music and a story that I can relate to with my tween. There are live musicians who entertain the audience prior to the start of the show and they can be found throughout the performance. Another difference in this show is that popular music has been added to the performance.
Tip! It does get chilly so bring a warm sweater or cuddle up with a blanket. Hot chocolate would be perfect for a cool night with Cirque.
