Have you heard of STACKED restaurant? It was new to us, so we looked it up before our visit. According to their website, STACKED is a full-service restaurant with an innovative ordering approach that enables you to control when you order and pay, and customize your meal in a comfortable, uninhibited way.
We headed over to the Torrance, CA location. My first impression? Holy options, Batman! The menu has a crazy amount of choice for everyone. Each table has its own dedicated iPad/tablet for ordering – the kids love this and will beg to order for the entire family. You are bound to find something delicious from burgers, chicken salads, mac and cheese, pizza — you will leave STUFFED and with a happy belly. Build your order, or go with a signature dish if you choose. It’s truly perfect dining for all ages. They offer a ton of ingredients. I recommend adding bacon to everything. =)
Would you rather have table service? No worries. The friendly staff are on hand to make sure everything runs smoothly. There was an elderly couple dining next to us, and they had no problems ordering on their own! Just one more ordering tip, make sure to review your order before sending off to the kitchen. My daughter tried to sneak in two desserts.
STACKED offers monthly signature options. For the month we visited all the menu’s signature items revolved around pesto. The choices were delicious and included a Wild Arugula Mediterranean Salad, Pesto Chicken Salad, Basil Pesto and Wild Arugula Pizza and Chicken Pesto Mac ’N’ Cheese. I ordered the Pesto Chicken Sandwich. This yummy entree was topped with Gouda cheese, tomato, wild arugula and a Parmesan breadcrumb crisps on a brioche bun with basil pesto. The chicken was juicy, big sandwich and somehow tasted even better the next day! We also had the homemade chips. I’m a big chip fan, so I had to give this a go. They aren’t too crispy, but not too soft and are perfect with the dipping sauces.
Next, we ordered the Mac N Cheese. I must report that this was one of the best mac n cheese I’ve ever eaten. Not overly cheesy, but gooey. Of course, I added bacon. With basil pesto, chunks of chicken breast, (signature dish comes with mushrooms – I had it without), roma tomato and fresh roasted garlic. Heavenly, this was a dream come true! At first glance, the portion might look small but looks are deceiving. The dish was perfectly cooked. The serving tray was changed and now it is served in a cast iron skillet. Keeps the food warm and looks smaller, but it is the same serving size. Really.
Finally, we made our final entree selection – the pizza. The perfect size to share, or eat as one serving. But make sure you save some room for dessert!
We couldn’t resist the Thin Mint cookie shake for dessert. Yes, that’s right I said “Thin Mint.” Just think about this — a combination of chocolate syrup, graham cracker crumbles, whipped cream and a good ole Girl Scout cookie. I was one happy camper with this shake until the very last sip.
We had a really great time at STACKED, and I’d certainly return. The food is really good, and the atmosphere is fun and casual. If you are in Torrance, consider this your next stop for date night! Dinner at STACKED and movie is now on our to-do list! Their trademark — Food Well Built. Maybe play off of that? It’s just good American food with a slew of toppings!
* All items in this post may not be on their current menu. All of their food items are customizable! Also, the manager recommends the wings! That’s on my list for my next visit. Thanks to STACKED for hosting our visit.
