Based upon the long lines at the Butterbeer Cart at Universal Studios’ The Wizarding World of Harry Potter I think it’s safe to say that wizards, witches and muggle love their butter beer.
But did you know that the drink isn’t the only option for that lovely butter beer flavor at Universal Studios Hollywood? I’ve tried them all, and put together a list for you. Butter beer rich and sugary as the drink and TBH, I have a favorite and it’s not the drink! I love butterscotch but I find that the drink can be overwhelmingly sweet.
Here are the list of all the Butterbeer options.
Drinks.
Enjoy it cold (traditional), hot (perfect for cooler days) or frozen (perfect to cool down!). I prefer the frozen version. It’s frothier, seems to last longer and is refreshing after a long hot day at the park. The main butter beer cart is located just beyond the entrance to the park. Three Broomsticks, and Hogs Head Pub also carry it. I believe the hot and frozen versions can only be purchased at Three Broomsticks restaurant.
Ice Cream.
Did you know that there is Butterbeer ice cream? Yum. A cup of creamy vanilla ice cream with swirls of frosty butterscotch to mystify your tastebuds. My only complaint is that it needed more swirls of butterscotch. Butterbeer ice cream is available at the ice cream cart outside of Three Broomsticks restaurant.
Fudge.
The two layers of fudge sweetness is my daughter’s favorite as she’s not a huge fan of the drink- only available at Honeyduke’s. We always buy a piece of Fudge Butterbeer for her on our way home, but sometimes it doesn’t make it to the car.
Potted Cream.
Butterbeer Potted Cream is my personal top pick. Creamy custard served in a small mason jar is oh so delicious. It’s not as rich as the drink, it’s a dreamy taste of butterscotch and I didn’t want to share.
What’s your personal favorite?
Have you wondered if Butterbeer is dairy-free? Rest assured my lactose intolerant friends, they are. Plus, they are alcohol free so all guests of all ages can enjoy them.
