“The Kingsman” film franchise is taking a new direction by moving forward with a prequel titled “The King’s Man.” Though its release has been delayed numerous times due to the ongoing pandemic, two new trailers confirmed that it hits theaters later in December. Cross your fingers.
“The King’s Man” is set long before we were introduced to Colin Firth’s Harry Hart recruited Taron Egerton’s Eggsy to join the super-secret spy organization that runs on “manners maketh the man.” But rather than do a cliched character origins story about Harry Hart, the prequel will center on the origins of the organization itself which seems to have been put together at the high of World War I.
But another film about proper British spies, even if it is set during a different time period, is still very much a film about proper British spies. The visuals and the stylized action only feels different because of its setting.
Still, if a gritty and overly violent spy film is something you are looking for, then “The King’s Man” might be just the prequel. Of course, the red-band trailer doesn’t hold back on some of the bloody action you will see. But if you are a bit squeamish, then you could also check out the green-band trailer, which we have also embedded below.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
