Tech Tuesday goes Back to Preschool: Dora the Explorer Let’s Play Backpack for iPad

Our tech-oriented family loves apps! As a Duo 50 blogger, we get the chance to check out all the latest Appcessories Discovery Bay Games rolls out for the iPad. The newest addition to their Duo line is Dora the Explorer: Let’s Play Backpack. If you are not familiar with Duo, here’s a quick run-down for you: A device (the Appcessory) links with your iPad to provide added interactive fun. In this case, Backpack rests on the side of the iPad and provides immediate feedback to your child’s performance.

First, go to the App Store and you can download the game for free. To use with the Appcessory, go to Amazon and purchase for $39.99.

Once you have the Let’s Play Backpack appcessory, simply turn it to “Play” mode and let the fun begin! Let’s Play Backpack has several modes of play:

Let’s Pack

Asks what item you would need in each scenario. Once you give your answer, Backpack responds to provide immediate feedback and Dora says the answer in English, then Spanish.

Subjects covered: Beach, Camping, and School supplies

Let’s Listen

A sound is made and your preschooler must guess which object/animal made that sound. Dora provides the verbal answer in English, then Spanish and Backpack opens up to drop the tokens if you are correct!

Subjects covered: Farm, Music Class, City

Let’s Match

Questions asked are: What Goes on It?, What Goes in It?, and Let’s find the Animal Homes. Dora gives the answer in English, then repeats in Spanish.

Say It Two Ways

Dora asks your preschooler to identify an object, but gives only the Spanish word. If they are correct, the tokens will drop into Backpack.
