Who doesn’t love a good french fry? They pair up with burgers, hot dogs, chicken or just alone served with ketchup or my favorite dipping sauce-thousand island dressing. French fries are definitely a staple on a kids menu! BUT they aren’t the healthiest food and should be enjoyed in moderation. Fries are high in calories and fat and sadly not the good type of fat. Enter CravOn. CravOn claims that their fries are 50% Less fat than regular fries. They are not fried and cooked with Olive Oil & Sea Salt. I was definitely intrigued and a little cautious about these fries. Healthier alternatives don’t always taste good. CravOn graciously sent me their four cuts to test out with my family.
CravOn fries are 90 calories per serving have 2 g of fat, 0 saturated fat, 0g trans fat and 0h cholesterol. Hmm, so far so good.
I compared their fries with another well known brand. CravOn did have less less calories, less fat but had a little more sodium.
Their cuts are ripple, steak, diamond and anytime diced. Anytime diced was perfect in a breakfast skillet. I added an egg, green pepper and a sprinkle of cheese. Delish! We also tried them straight out of the oven. What did we think? They are really yummy! They taste like regular fries only not as greasy. They were a little saltier than what I am used to but I don’t normally season my fries.
Pros:
They are crispy (I love crispy fries!!)
They taste like regular french fries minus all the grease
50% less fat
Made with only 5 ingredients!
Cons:
Didn’t taste that good cold but that’s typical of most fries.
How are CravOn Fries made? (I had to share CravOn’s graphics – I think they are awesome!)
Check out CravOn’s recipes. I’m definitely going to try the “Oh Goodness Garlic Fries” recipe.
