Have you been wondering where Bridget Jones has been all these years? She’s finally back in the new rom-com Bridget Jones’s Baby! I jumped at the chance to screen it for a Mom’s Night Out. Bridget is having a baby (yay!) but she’s not sure if it’s Mark’s or Jack’s (what?? And who is Jack??).
I grabbed my Bridget Jones’s Baby swag and met up with a friend for a fun night out. I highly recommend seeing the film with a friend but I’m sure that your significant other would like it. The guy next to me in the theater was trying hard not to laugh but the movie is hysterical. Universal’s Bridget Jones’s Baby is nostalgic, full of laughs and I related to some of the mommy-to-be moments especially as a “geriatric mom”. I was in my early 30s when I had my child but still considered “old”. Plus, Renee Zellweger is adorable, Colin Firth is charming and Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsy co-stars. It’s a night-out full of wins! I recommend seeing it in a theater where you can dine with seat-side service. Just make sure to Uber if you have cocktails.
Bridget Jones’s Diary came out in 2001. Bridget was awkward, clumsy and the majority of us could relate to wanting to improve ourselves in one way or another. Who hasn’t had an ugly sweater moment? We think she finds true love but 15 years later we learn that Bridget and Tom have broken up and Bridget celebrating her 40th birthday all alone.
Bridget focuses on her career until she meets Jack at a music festival. The two spend the night together and Bridget leaves him the next morning. She also runs into Mark at a Christening a few days later. Mark recently separated from his wife (Yes, the man married someone else! What’s up with that?) and comes on strong to Bridget. The two also share a night together. What a conundrum! Things change for Bridget and fast — a couple of months later Bridget takes a few pregnancy tests to find out that it’s positive. She’s is pregnant! But, who’s the father?
Seeing the two guys fight over Bridget is actually quite hilarious! I was in pain from laughing so hard! The chemistry in this trio is perfection and we see original cast members from the first movie which is a real treat! What’s not to love? Both men are happy about the baby and even want to make it work with Bridget when they find that they might not be the father. I’m definitely team Mark but Jack could be the father. I won’t tell!
If you loved Bridget Jones’s Diary you will be happy with this film. Bridget Jones’s Baby is definitely worth the wait and I can’t wait to see it again!
