Picture IT Friday Craft: Photo on Canvas

I love the look of photos on canvas but they can be pricey! This DIY craft is super easy and you can create great looking art for any wall in your house.

Supplies:

• Blank 8×10 Canvas
• digital photo sized to an 8×10 and printed on photo paper
• Matte Mod Podge
• Matte Acrylic Sealer Spray
• Ribbon
• Glue Gun
• sponge brush

I chose to create photo canvases using pictures of my four year old and her friends. I thought they would be perfect to hang on her bedroom wall. I used Photoshop and added text to the photo’s to make them a little more fun. You can use any photo editing program to add text, tweak your colors or add effects. Next, size the image to 8×10. My image was printed on a regular sheet of photo paper so it required some trimming to fit the 8×10 fame. The next step is to take your sponge brush and apply Mod Podge on the back of the photo and then place it on the canvas. Use a cloth and rub it smooth. Then use the same sponge brush and brush it across the entire photo. It will appear milky white. This is normal until it dries. Repeat that step 2-3 times letting coats dry between applications (about 30 minutes). Once the last coat is dry spray the sealer over the entire photo. Let dry for another 30 minutes. Take your ribbon and determine how much you will need to wrap around the entire canvas. Then use the glue gun to adhere the ribbon around the canvas. I also added a bit of ribbon to hang it by.
