The Aquarium of the Pacific’s Penguin Encounter returns Aug. 3 to give visitors an opportunity to meet and observe Magellanic penguins.
Visitors will be able to sit next to the penguins and watch them around the June Keyes Penguin Habitat before the Aquarium of the Pacific opens in the morning.
Penguin Encounters begin at 8:30 a.m. and reservations are required 48 hours in advance.
Penguin Encounters require a minimum of two and a maximum of four visitors limited to one household group. Participants must be at least 7 years old. Animal Encounter participants must complete a waiver and release form. Closed-toe shoes and face coverings are mandatory. Visitors must practice social distancing from staff members at all times and have their temperatures taken before entering the Aquarium of the Pacific.
Visitors are encouraged to bring cameras and take photos. They will be able to meet the Aquarium of the Pacific staff members who care for the penguins during the 30-minute program.
The cost for Penguin Encounters is $150 per person, $135 per person for Aquarium of the Pacific members. Price includes admission to the aquarium. The outdoor areas of the Aquarium of the Pacific are currently open.
