Earlier this year PBS Kids announced that their content will be accessible to a wider audience with the launch of PBS Kids Plug and Play. The first kids’ TV and playtime streaming stick provide a one-stop destination for a variety of PBS KIDS educational content. Pre-loaded with sing-alongs, exclusive games and other original content that can all be accessed without Wi-Fi, PBS KIDS Plug & Play transforms any TV into an interactive, safe, educational playtime experience.
And Plug and Play’s value expands even further when it is connected to WiFI. You’ll have access to PBS KIDS’ new 24/7 channel and live stream in partnership with local PBS stations, as well as more than 100 hours of on-demand videos, with no subscriptions required. Fresh content, including new videos, special seasonal content and more, is also added regularly at no additional cost.
The Plug and Play will be no ordinary mini console that will provide entertaining educational content for your child. The look of it is modeled after a racecar and comes with a child-friendly remote. When plugged in, the device provides PBS KIDS’ dynamic content, creating an interactive family room experience. And you can take this device anywhere with you to plug it into any USB capable TV. In a recent study of parents of children ages 2-6, 89 percent of parents reported they watch TV together as a family and 74 percent were in favor of anytime access to educational programming.
We tested out The Plug and Play and I adore it! For my husband and I, PBS KIDS has always been a safe place for my daughter. We watched programs together as a family and we were confident that she was receiving educational content where we didn’t have to worry about anything inappropriate. Setting up the Plug and Play was easy to do. We plugged in the device via the HDMI port on the side of our TV. The device shows up as an app on my feed and it was ready to go. The remote is perfectly sized for little hands and just as easy for them to navigate. Kids these days are tech savvy at an early age. So little ones should have no problem browsing the seven different options including Sound Box (create your own beats and rhythms), a Sing-A-Long to your familiar tunes from various shows and videos where kids can watch Live TV programs like Sesame Street or browse from the library of episodes from their favorite PBS Kids programs like my daughter’s favorites- Odd Squad, Word Girl and Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood! I also like that a word of the week, where every week a new word is unlocked. Another cool features is that the car can be used as a toy. there will be different car models to choose from in the future.
The Plug and Play is the perfect gift for PBS KIDS fans and their families! It is available in various retail locations including Walmart and Best Buy.
