The Adam Project Trailer Sees Ryan Reynolds Meeting His Younger Self
There’s no denying that Shawn Levy films are straight up fun. From Real Steel all the way to Free Guy, there guaranteed fun to be had with any one of his film. And now, he takes that sense of adventure and wonder up a notch by throwing in some time travel in his upcoming “The Adam Project.” The film stars Ryan Reynolds as an older Adam, a time traveler from the future who returns to the past teams up with his younger self and his late father to come to terms with his past while saving the future.
Walker Scobell plays the younger Adam, who is having some trouble adjusting to his new school. Constantly bullied, young Adam still mourns the loss of his father (Mark Ruffalo), and as such, is taking out his frustrations on the wrong things. Though his mother (Jennifer Garner) tries to set him on the right path, Young Adam clearly isn’t thinking about his future. And as soon as he finds out that it’s coming sooner than he thinks. His future self (Reynolds) arrives.
Of course, since this stars Ryan Reynolds, one has to embrace that snarky and zippy charm that comes with the actor. And he pretty much brings that with some attitude into the film. And what kind of kid wouldn’t be shocked to find out that he ends up looking like Ryan Reynolds in a distant future.
Zoe Saldana also stars as Adam’s partner in crime, who isn’t afraid to shoot some heads off with her futuristic gun. And it should be fun to see that dynamic play out as we’ve seen Saldana be a no-nonsense bad ass foil to the charismatic and sarcastic hero.
Catherine Keener also stars.
This isn’t the first time that Levy’s works has appeared on Netflix. The filmmaker is an executive producer and a director of a few episodes of “Stranger Things.” And we all know how that went for the streaming giant and filmmaker.
