Disney has released a brand new trailer for Season 2 of Loki, which gives us a small tease of what’s to come for the new time-traveler and how the god of Mischief must repair the fractured timeline from becoming broken for good. When we last left Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in his titular streaming series exclusive only on Disney+, he was tossed into a timeline where one of “He Who Remains’” variants had won the Multiverse War. Now, we are seeing the consequences of Sylvie’s (Sophia Di Martino playing a Loki variant) actions after she had killed one of the many “He Who Remains” otherwise known as Kang, and the new threat that she has unleashed.
As such, Loki must now reestablish his working relationship with Mobius (Owen Wilson) who does not even recognize his TVA associate. There are also a few TVA agents who have either gone rogue or have their own agendas to fulfill. A couple of scenes see Wunmi Moskau’s Hunter B-15 travelling through different timeline branches under different disguises. One as a doctor and another as a 1920s elite. Meanwhile, Ravonna (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) charges a TVA weapon.
We also see Casey (Eugene Cordeo) being apprehended, and Tara Strong’s Miss Minutes take a different form. And of course there’s Sylvie, who looks like she will go into god mode while also taking an order playing a McDonalds employee.
Season 2 also stars Rafael Casal, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, Neil Ellice, with Jonathan Majors and Ke Huy Quan.
“What ever we do, we’re playing god,” Sylvie says about the reality of her identity and powerlessness in the grand scheme of things. “We are gods” Loki responds.
“The timeline is running out” the tag reads, as Loki is forced with the impossible decision of deciding who lives and who dies. And to cap it all off, we see Victor Timely, a Kang of the early 1900s – the one we saw at the “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumanis” end credits scene – telling his audience to “Make the hard choice.”
While Loki warns that “War is on it’s way,” Mobius reminds him that he is the god of mischief – seemingly hinting that the title could prevent war. A couple of flashes of Loki “being over the top” are included towards the end before revealing the October 6, 2023 release date.
Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead, Dan Deleeuw and Kasra Farahani direct episodes. The head writer is Eric Martin. Season 1 was written by Michael Waldron, with Kate Herron directing.
