Netflix’s Never Have I Ever is recognized as one of the best original comedies that Netflix has to offer. Its first season is praised for its hilarity, honesty, and sweetness. And now, the freshman series will be getting another season.
The coming of age comedy comes from Office co-writer and The Mindy Show creator Mindy Kaling. It centers on Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan), a 15-year-old high school sophomore who wants to improve her life by changing her social status. However, she also has to navigate the high school experience, cope with the loss of her father, come to grips with her Indian identity, and figure out the complicated relationship she has with her mother.
The series is mostly narrated by professional tennis player John McEnroe, with one of the episodes narrated by Andy Samberg. Not only that, but the show is praised for its diverse cast, which, in addition to Ramakrishnan, includes Poorna Jagannathan, Richa Moorjani, Jaren Lewison, Darren Barnet, Lee Rodriguez, and Ramona Young.
Although, it’s not clear when production for Never Have I Ever season 2 will start considering the current pandemic that is going on.
And while I have never seen an episode yet, I am interested in seeing the hype that surrounds it and how exactly it was able to earn a second season.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
