Universal Studios Hollywood is celebrating Year of the PIG! Lunar New Year takes place within and around Universal Plaza, located at the heart of the theme park and the celebrations keep growing every year. Under strings of red Chinese lanterns and stunning plum blossom Wishing Trees, the thrilling festivities will come to life as guests discover the 12 zodiac animal signs accompanied by their symbolic attributes.
DreamWorks’ Kung Fu Panda Jade Palace Performance Stage hosts the exciting Dragon Warrior Training Show based on the beloved Kung Fu Panda franchise. The interactive show is for all ages and welcomes its audience to engage in kung fu demonstrations led by Po, the lovable kung fu master panda from the Kung Fu Panda franchise. There are other new traditional dance and martial arts cultural performances taking place, so check schedules.
Kung Fu Panda’s famous Mr. Ping’s Noodle Shop is back serving up delicious culturally-themed food such as Po’s Dumplings, Dragon Warrior Bao, Oogway Eggrolls and Secret Ingredient Stir Fry Noodles. Mr. Ping himself will be on hand to interact with guests with some hilarious banter and take memorable souvenir photos.
I’m all about desserts and I’ve tried a variety of Lunar themed desserts like cupcakes, cookies, churros and more. My favorite is the Ginger Cheesecake with Fortune Cookie Crust. YUM! I was fortunate to try this mini cheesecake with a fortune cookie crust, topped with a fortune cookie and sprinkled with sweet candy ginger. I loved my bites with candied ginger. Definitely my savory favorite of the day!
Lunar New Year wouldn’t be the same without Mandarin-speaking Transformer’s MEGATRON. He looms over guests at the Universal Plaza entrance where he greets fans with real-time Mandarin conversations.
Hello Kitty is my favorite! Look at her beautiful specially-designed Lunar New Year attire! She’s walking the red carpet outside the Hello Kitty Shop located within the Animation Studio Store.
Cutest moment is a photo with a Minion! These stylish dudes are dressed up in brightly colored traditional Lunar New Year attire. See them at the Marketplace.
Head to Universal Studios Hollywood with your friends and family to enjoy The Lunar New Year 2019 Festivities running until Sunday, February 17, 2019.
