With a name like Dog Haus Biergarten, let’s be honest, we didn’t know what to expect on our first visit and…it was absolutely the “wurst!” The recently renovated location Dog Haus Biergarten on Green Street in Old Town Pasadena, has a great local vibe that was welcoming to my entire family. We were smitten, and definitely recommend this unique.
The Dog Haus Biergarten menu can be overwhelming with the amazing variety of choices and flavor profiles. You can count on the friendly staff that are eager to answer questions. They gave us great food and drink recommendations, and we were impressed with the competitive prices.
My husband ordered the Haus Sausage Huli-Huli. The chicken and pork sausage is served on King Hawaiian Rolls. There’s nothing simple about the combination of flavors with bursts of sweet, and a touch of heat. The Huli Huli is topped with Bouillonnaise, Sweet ginger glaze, pineapple, scallions, picked jalapenos and crispy onion. I thought it was a great balance of flavors, and satisfied his quest for a new favorite sandwich.
Next up, I’m a sucker for a good burger. My first inclination was to order a plain Cheeseburger, but I decided to expand my palette with The Mensch. Definitely grab a handful of napkins for this entree! My first deliciously sloppy bite was an amazing taste of American cheese, smoked bacon, thinly-sliced pastrami, Haus slaw and their secret sauce all strategically piled up on on King Hawaiian Rolls. Meat lovers will kneel down to this filling burger!
Now, not all sides are equal. I have to say the Dog Haus sides can be enjoyed on their own or with one of the Haus’ delicious craft beers! We ordered the Tater tots, which turned out to be crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Just how I like them. My husband splurged, and ordered the loaded Chili Cheese Fries. Yassss!
Dog Haus does offer a kids meal option. My daughter quickly made up her mind, and ordered the 2 hot dog sliders (she’s not much of a condiment girl and ordered it plain). For $6.99 kids will get their protein, tots or fries and a drink!
Did you save room for a dessert? I was bummed that this location doesn’t offer shakes yet, BUT we did manage to devour a couple of their fresh baked giant cookies.
Dog Haus is now one of my favorite places to eat. The flavors were excellent, and creative. They also offer a chicken sandwich called Bad Mutha Clucka and of course, hot dogs. All protein is antibiotic and hormone free. Another plus, the food is served on King Hawaiian Rolls. For those not in the know these yummy breads come ready to break into four pieces, so my family could easily share with each other. If you are seeking alternative proteins, the menu offers vegetarian options, such as Impossible Burgers and Beyond Meat.
We had a fun, relaxing and satisfying meal. I will certainly return for another visit to Dog Haus Biergarten Old Town Pasadena and recommend you add it to your must-eat list. We’ll probably return for date night, or a night out with friends so we can enjoy more of their delicious beers taps and house cocktail.
Parking tip: Park at the structure on Green and Raymond for 90 minutes free parking. If drinking, make sure to take ride share!
