Jurassic World: Dominion is a culmination of two eras of Jurassic series coming together for the first time since the film franchise was launched nearly 30 years. As such, the epic conclusion brings the kind of nostalgia you get from seeing a living breathing dinosaur in the 90s and combines it with the panache of the action-packed new films of today. So it only makes sense that we hear from the cast and crew who have lived those moments of the past and the present in a brand new featurette released by Universal.
While most of the film were more concentrated about the park itself, the finale brings history’s most fearsome creatures to our doorstep, as dinosaurs live amongst human beings. As such, we are now the prey who has to adapt to the new world order. But there’s nothing like reliving that magic of seeing anything like a dinosaur in the trailer or the ripples from the giant footsteps. And the featurette takes a look at the franchise’s legacy by weaving in behind-the-scenes footage and scenes from “Jurassic Park” with that of “Jurassic World: Dominion.”
Hearing the original cast talk about how special making Jurassic Park was to them interwoven with some of the more exciting moments we can expect to see in “Jurassic World Dominion” surely piqued my interest. Yeah, it may look like a lot of fan service, but the reality is, we’d expect nothing less from a “true, honest-to-God scary as well adventure.” At least, that’s how director Colin Trevorrow describes it.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
From Jurassic World architect and director Colin Trevorrow, Dominion takes place four years after Isla Nublar has been destroyed. Dinosaurs now live—and hunt—alongside humans all over the world. This fragile balance will reshape the future and determine, once and for all, whether human beings are to remain the apex predators on a planet they now share with history’s most fearsome creatures.
Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard are joined by Oscar®-winner Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum and Sam Neill in Jurassic World Dominion, a bold, timely and breathtaking new adventure that spans the globe. They will be joined by new cast members DeWanda Wise (“She’s Gotta Have It”), Emmy nominee Mamoudou Athie (“Archive 81”), Dichen Lachman (“Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”), Scott Haze (“Minari”) and Campbell Scott (“The Amazing Spider-Man 2”). The film’s returning cast includes BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu, Justice Smith as Franklin Webb, Daniella Pineda as Dr. Zia Rodriguez and Omar Sy as Barry Sembenè.
“Jurassic World Dominion” opens in theaters on June 10, 2022.
