Lionsgate has released the newest trailer for “John Wick Chapter 4” the latest installment of the long-running revenge action flick starring Keanu Reeves as the title star. To think, that this franchise all started with a the title character, a former assassin, getting revenge for the death of his beagle, a last gift from his beloved wife. Three films later, the man is still looking for get even with those who have wronged him.
This new trailer opens with a High Table radio dj saying that “this hit” goes out to John Wick. And the trailer then explodes with Nas’ “Got Yourself A…” hit playing in the background assassins stack the body count all the while revealing the very classy that hides in plain sight.
The film also sees the return of Laurence Fishburne as the Bowery King, a crime lord who is the opposite of the High Table as his crew lives on the streets where they can easily gather intel or kill their marks. Also returning are Lance Reddick as Charon, the concierge of the Continental Hotel, who offered John all the help he needed, whether that was cars and suits, or lots of guns. And finally, there’s Ian McShane’s Winston, the owner of the Continental Hotel.
As for newcomers to the series, there’s Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada, Shamier Anderson, Rina Sawayama, an unrecognizable Scott Adkins.
When we last left John, he was left for dead, having been shot by his friend Winston. Saved by the Bowery King, John contemplates his next move against the High Table, the very organization he worked for before he killed someone on Continental grounds.
It’s truly fascinating to see how director Chad Stahelski continues to finds ways to make the stunt work more explosive and the world-building more impressive as the sequel continues its global tour taking the title assassin from the streets of New York to Paris. We even see Wick head back to the desert.
And then, there’s the stunt work. The impressive gun and sword play is going to look like a lot of fun to watch on the big screen. And we can’t forget about the dogs.
“John Wick Chapter 4” opens in theaters on March 24, 2023.
