Modern living designs strike an arty pose at the second annual This Modern Life held noon – 6 pm on June 10 at the Helms Bakery in West Los Angeles.
This free, design-centric event features workshops, book signings, demonstrations, tastings, and sweepstakes – all with an eye toward the classic modern look and attitude.
Numerous speakers will address the historic precedent of modernism and how it continues to relate to today’s sensibilities. Special guests include KCRW’s Design and Architecture host, Frances Anderton, Making Mid-Century author and interior designer, Christopher Kennedy, Beautiful Oops author, Barney Saltzberg, award-winning architect, Anthony Poon, Foraged Flora author, Louesa Roebuck and Queer Threads: Crafting Identity and Community author John Chaich.
Participating showrooms and stores will present their take on the modernism movement: H.D. Buttercup, Room & Board, Rejuvenation, Kohler Signature Store, Scandinavian Designs, The Rug Warehouse, Harbour Outdoor, Arcana: Book on the Arts, Louis Poulson and Carl Hansen & Søn.
Plus, Local Mercato and Beautiful Things L.A. will join the festivities and pop-up for one day only.
Helms Bakery is located at 8800 Venice Boulevard, LA CA 90034.
