Disney has released brand new key art for “Loki,” a new show focusing on the title Asgardian god of mischief, played by Tom Hiddleston, that is set to debut on Disney+ later this summer. Although, it is just one teaser poster, it should be enough of a tease to hold us over as “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” is set to drop midnight Friday, with “Black Widow” set to his theaters later in May.
As you might have guess, “Loki” will be about Loki, the fan-favorite anti-hero who escaped the Avengers during a scuffle over the Tesseract during the time heist in “Avengers: Endgame.” Where he ends up is still unclear, as the teaser didn’t provide us much detail about how he ends up in the custody of the TVA. But if we were to speculate, the show is going to be one wild ride through space and time.
Hiddleston returns to reprise the god of mischief, a role he has played since 2011. Since that time, he’s appeared in all three “Thor” films, “Avengers,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame.” He is also set to voice the character in “What If…?” a new Marvel Studios production that will take familiar MCU stories and add a twist to them.
Though this is being treated as a TV series, it will still feel very cinematic as director Kate Herron (“Sex Education”)and head writer Michael Waldron (“Rick and Morty”) play up the comedy as they Loki on a wild adventure through space and time. What’s more, the show is also an opportunity to see more of our mischievous god and Hiddleston charming up the screen.
Here’s the official plot synopsis for “Loki:”
Marvel Studios’ “Loki” features the God of Mischief as he steps out of his brother’s shadow in a new series that takes place after the events of “Avengers: Endgame.”
Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, WunmiMosaku and Richard E. Grant also star.
“Loki” is set to debut exclusively on Disney+ on June 11, 2021.
