Books are wonderful and most children’s classics stand the test of time. Richard Scarry is a popular classic children’s author and his Bustyown series is a favorite amongst children around the world. I recently learned that Scarry was born in Boston (my home town!) and studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Scarry was an author and illustrator and lived in Switzerland until he passed away at the age of 74.
Children can still enjoy his books and other products based on his titles. Our new favorite game is by far Richard Scarry’s Busytown Eye Found It Game by I Can Do That Games. My soon to be 4-year-old daughter loves this game! The game board is six feet long and is for 2 or more players ages 3 and up. The object of the game is to get to the picnic before the pigs gobble up all the yummy food. Along the way you go for a ride searching for tiny hidden objects on the board. My daughter loves landing on a Goldbug cards and tracking down objects with a mini-sized magnifying glass before the hour glass runs out.
This game holds her attention and she’s learning about patience, taking turns and counting. We work together as a team which is a learned skill..My daughter can be a bit of a “sore loser” and in this game there really isn’t a “loser.”
I highly recommend this game. Busytown Eye Found It Game! is a wonderful introduction to Richard Scarry if you haven’t already. I Can Do That Games/The Wonder Forge company makes wonderful games for preschoolers. The game is currently priced at $16.81 on www.amazon.com.
