DVD Review: VeggieTales ‘Twas The Night Before Easter

Our thoughts:

I have always loved Veggie Tales for their positive messages and values.  My older daughter, Kaleigh, was introduced to Veggie Tales while attending Catholic School. She really loved the show. This was Adeline’s first experience with Veggie Tales and she was  drawn in by the fun super catchy songs and the quirky vegetable characters.  This DVD is a great way to introduce the true meaning of Easter and why it is celebrated beyond the commercialized Easter Bunny and eggs.  The Veggie Tale characters  teach your kids valuable lessons such as helping others while still entertaining kids without ever sounding preachy! There is humor in the show that both kids and adults will love.  There were a lot of American Idol spoofs which I thought were hysterical.  The main reason I am a huge fan of Veggie Tales is that they offer encouraging messages to children. It’s rare to find a truly wholesome show these days. Consider ‘Twas the Night Before Easter for your child’s Easter basket!

It’s Easter time in Crisper County and cable news reporter Marlee Meade is hunting for a way to help others. She cooks up a plan to save the old theater with a cast of costume-clad townies, massive props and a 20-foot robot rabbit to perform “Up with Bunnies.” Now there’s only one thing missing—the star of the show! When word spreads that singing sensation Cassie Cassava (Melinda Doolittle) is arriving to perform in her hometown church’s Easter service, Marlee schemes to steal the starlet for her own pageant!
